TITLE: Adinkra Hene (King of Adinkra) ARTIST: Laurel True (Facilitator) LOCATION: Aba House Cultural Center DESCRIPTION: Discarded ceramic tile, sea shells and beach pebbles (2004) This is one of many community mosaic projects that I have facilitated in Nungua. The design is based on a local textile tradition and features "Adinkra" symbols, which were traditionally found on funerary cloth. Each symbol refers to a proverb that points to ways of "right living". Related Website CONTRIBUTOR: Laurel True - Oakland, CA, USA |
