TITLE: Mosaics from the latest church built ARTIST: Byzantine Period, then last restored in 2004 LOCATION: St. George Orthodox Cathedral DESCRIPTION: St. George Orthodox Cathedral.
The Cathedral is the oldest church in the city of Beirut, Lebanon, and one of the oldest in the region - a testament that Christianity has been rooted in the region, and in Lebanon, since the religion's debut.
Remains of six successive churches were found during the excavation process. CONTRIBUTOR: Carole Choucair Oueijan - Hacienda Heights, CA, USA |
