The City was looking for art that would last forever and was touchable. Mosaic was clearly the answer. My idea was to create a mosaic that would look like an old painting of a historic scene with a bas-relief frame. The frame includes images from before, during, and after this time period, and that are made out of gold tiles in remembrance of the Gold Rush Era. I was happy to learn so much in this project both in research and execution.
