TITLE: Pioneer School Community Mosaic
ARTIST: Kim Emerson
LOCATION: Pioneer Elementary School , 980 N. Ash St, Escondido, California
DESCRIPTION: Emerson went on a “treasure hunt” asking each class at Pioneer Elementary School “What is community?” The students responded with drawings of nature, family, friends and learning. She put their ideas into the design and each child at the school placed their “tessera” into this 9’ long by 5’ high mural located at the school entrance. (2001)
