TITLE: bridal scene
ARTIST: Venice & Murano Glass & Mosaic Co.
LOCATION: Laxmi Vilas Palace, Jawahrarlal Nehru Marg, Vadodara (formerly known as Baroda).
DESCRIPTION: Detail of Bride's attendant. Note "bindi" mark on forehead. Smalti mosaic about 10 ft long & 16ft high created sometime between 1878-1890. Probably designed by a Mr. Hasjee, a local draftsman supervising the construction of the palace. The designs were interpreted by 12 Italian mosaic craftsmen employed by the Venice & Murano Glass & Mosaic Co. over a period of 18 months.
