TITLE: Healthy Living in Corwen
ARTIST: Tricia Jones and Corwen Kids Club
LOCATION: Healthy Living Centre, Corwen,Denbighshire.
DESCRIPTION: Mosaic workshops with Corwen Kids Club and Corwen Girls Club Spring 2005. The project was funded by Cymorth and Denbighshire County Council and officially opened on 30th June, 2005 by Michael German, Lead Cabinet Member for Children and Young People and Ian Miller, Chief Executive, Denbighshire County Council. The young people drew the designs and first-fixed the mosaic onto hessian mesh in our weekly sessions; I then cemented and grouted the mesh to an exterior wall at the town's Healthy Living Centre. The theme of the mosaic is based on the healthy living of Corwen area: the town's Rugby Team, Welsh choir music, swimming pool, healthy eating, fishing in the River Dee and much more. We used recycled ceramic tiles, broken and discarded crockery and pottery much of which was donated by the local community. 7ft. x 4ft.
