TITLE: L'Arbre à Fables
ARTIST: Sandrina Van Geel
LOCATION: Ecole Jean de la Fontaine
DESCRIPTION: This mosaic of a large tree of more than 3 meters high was made in Briare tiles in 2006-2007 by young children of 6 to 8 years of age in the Jean de la Fontaine School located in the Paris area. Each child drew animals taken from the fables of Jean de la Fontaine as well as a tree. The artist who conducted this project selected parts of each drawing to form a large tree in which various animals were perched and with a different leaf for each child. The preparation was carried out with the children over several months. This collective work is now embedded in the school's outside wall.
