TITLE: GORGONA (MERMAID)
ARTIST: HARIS HARALAMBOUS
LOCATION: ARCHANGELOS AREA AT LAKATAMIA, RIGHT ACROSS THE ARHANGELOS CHURCH (AT MY HOUSE)
DESCRIPTION: Mixed technique, mosaic with stone and ceramic. It started as my attempt to make a mermaid at my ceramic lessons, which I put on the wall as a sculpture trying to give the impression that it was coming out of the wall. The fused glass pannels on the stairs above represent the sea (that was also my project on my fused glass lessons). Anyhow the whole looked incomplete, so on a trip to Larnaca with my wife, we located a curved stone, with a ship on it and we decided to make a stone mosaic around the mermaid, including the stone with the ship. The rest is what you can see on the fotos.
