TITLE: Our Lady of the Snow
ARTIST: Off Wencelas Square in Old Town.
DESCRIPTION: This church was founded by Charles IV in 1347 to mark his coronation. The name references a 4th century miracle in Rome, when the Virgin Mary appeared to the pope in a dream. In the dream Mary instructed him to build a church to her on the spot where snow fell in August. The church in Prague was never finished. Originally it was to have been over 300 feet long and over 100 feet high. The building that is there today was finished in 1397.
