TITLE: Spiral ARTIST: Jan O'Highway LOCATION: Walpole Park, Gosport, Hampshire DESCRIPTION: This is a site-specific piece. If you stand on the stone centre and read the words, "TURNING FROM THE CHURCH I GAZED ACROSS THE LAKE BEYOND THE FIELD OF FIRE TOWARD THE SETTING SUN," the church, lake and westerly sun, are all in line of sight. The Field of Fire refers to Gosport's Naval history. Portsmouth Harbour has been a major military stronghold since preRoman times.
